Policies

When I began at Pinellas Preparatory Academy, the school did not have a policy manual to assist with the management of the school.  During my first year with the school, a great deal of time was spent developing a policy manual with the Board of Directors, and finalizing that document.  Over my time with the school various amendments have occurred as they become necessary.  In 2009 a significant revision of the policies were put into place, where the Board asked that I separate out policies which the Board should be responsible for, and those that the administration should have control over.  At that time I separated the existing policy manual into the Corporate Policy Manual (set by the Board), and the Administrative Policy Manual (set by the Principal, with notification to the Board).

All of the previous versions of the policy manual are available on the PPA website at: http://www.pinellasprep.org/governance/governing

Additionally, I was instrumental in the development of Deaf Empowerment, Inc., a non-for-profit agency that advocates for Deaf/Heard of Hearing individuals in Wisconsin.  The agency was started by my wife as part of a practicum experience for her college degree.  She served as the executive director, providing services to D/HH individuals and raising money. I did the behind the scenes work by incorporating the agency, the application for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, bylaws, budgets, and more. I also assisted with the development and facilitated the training of the Board of Directors.
